My Mission Statements

I am very excited. I have finished my mission statements :)

Of course, I will tweak them as I grow and as my roles change and develop. But as for now, this is it!

I came up with a formula to use on my five most important roles (follower of Jesus, wife, mother, homemaker, worship leader) that is as follows:

———–
As a {role}
With {the filter through and foundation on which I will act}

I will
{do three main things}

That {the desired outcome may happen}
———–

You will also notice that I have a picture above each mission statement that summarizes what I would like to be marked by in each role. I noticed that each pair contained a posture/attitude of the heart (honor, submission, wisdom, peace, service) as well as an expression of love (intimacy, friendship, love, attentiveness, passion). That’s powerful stuff.

Also, I included a verse or two to accompany each mission statement (all in ESV unless stated otherwise). You know, to keep it biblical and all.

This may seem a little too complex for a mission statement, but to me it makes sense and it is the way I want it for now. I have enjoyed considering what the desired outcome of each of my roles is and how I will get there. I have also enjoyed nailing down my core values through this exercise. My values might be summed up in these three things: fear of the Lord, honor, and excellent service. All of which are wrapped up in love. Love God, love others, love those who don’t know Jesus in Molly-speak (values of the Antioch movement).

What I’m basically saying is that I am obsessed with attaining clarity of purpose and values. So I have basically been geeking out over this thing since I started it over a week ago.

Of course, a mission statement is useless without action. So hold me accountable to these things! I intend to use this as a grid through which I make decisions and how I prioritize my life. Lord, help me!

{and if you have critiques about my mission statement, don’t tell me.

Just kidding.

Except I worked hard on this. So I’m not kidding.

No really, you can.

Just don’t make me cry.}

{but do go ahead and laugh at my lame pictures. Hey, anything to help me remember these things…}

Without further ado—>

As a follower of Jesus
On the firm foundation of his love and goodness

I will
grow in passion and love for Him
live with confidence as a daughter of God
& build my life on his truth in the fear of the LORD to obedience

That I may know him and others may know him too.

The Lord is good to all and his mercies are over all that he has made. Psalm 145:9

O people, the LORD has told you what is good,
and this is what he requires of you:
to do what is right, to love mercy,
and to walk humbly with your God. Micah 6:8 NLT

And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him. Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness. Colossians 2:6-7 NLT

& With patience and kindness discipline him

That he might grow into who God made him to be according to His purposes for his life.

As a homemaker
With excellence and thankfulness

Make the fear of The Lord a fountain of life
& Maintain sensitivity to my family’s physical, spiritual, and emotional needs

That my family may thrive and that all who enter may find a peaceful and welcoming haven.
